Man Killed In Avondale Hit-And-Run

(CBSSTMW) -- A man was killed early Sunday in a hit-and-run crash in the Avondale neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

The 34-year-old man was struck by the vehicle about 5:20 a.m. at North Milwaukee and West Belmont avenues, according to Fire Media Affairs Chief Juan Hernandez.

He was taken in critical condition to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, Hernandez said, adding that the man "may have flown about 30-feet from where he got hit." He was later pronounced dead.

Chicago Police are investigating the hit-and-run crash.
