Man Charged With Using Signal Jamming Device Aboard CTA Red Line Train

(CBS) -- Chicago Police say a man has been charged with using a signal jamming device aboard a CTA Red Line train Tuesday morning.

Dennis Nicholl, 63, got on the Red Line at the Loyola stop and was seen using the device by covert officers from the Chicago Police Department, CTA and FCC, police said. He was arrested without incident at the Granville stop.

Police say the arrest comes following an investigation of complaints by passengers about cell phone reception on the CTA and were able to identify a suspect with the help of an anonymous 911 call.

Nicholl, of Chicago, has been charged with one felony count of Unlawful Interference with Public Utility. He is scheduled to appear in bond court on Wednesday.
