Man Charged With Striking Police Officers With Vehicle
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A West Side man is facing a litany of charges after he struck two Chicago Police officers with a vehicle while trying to flee the scene of an incident with his girlfriend early Wednesday in the East Garfield Park neighborhood, police said.
Harrison District officers were escorting the woman to her vehicle in an alley after a domestic disturbance in the 3200 block of West Fulton Street at 2:25 a.m., but as they approached the vehicle they saw her boyfriend inside, police said.
He tried to drive away and the vehicle struck two officers, a fence and a building, police said.
One of the officers was taken to Rush University Medical Center and the other to Mount Sinai Hospital, both with non-life-threatening injuries, police said. Both have since been released from the hospital.
The boyfriend — 28-year-old Willie Mance — has been charged with three felony counts of resisting a police officer and six misdemeanor counts, including DUI, criminal trespass to a vehicle, driving on a revoked license, fleeing police, possession of cannabis and operating a vehicle without insurance, police said.
Mance, of the 4100 block of West Arthington Street, is scheduled to appear in bond court Thursday.
