Man Charged With Starting Trash-Can Fire At Roosevelt University

(STMW) -- A Lincoln Park man is facing arson charges for allegedly setting a trash can on fire at Roosevelt University.

Lavale Miller, 35, was charged with attempted arson with a person present, a felony, and criminal trespassing, a misdemeanor, Chicago Police announced Sunday.

Miller allegedly started the fire at the Loop campus about 4:50 p.m. April 1, police said. No one was injured.

On April 2, police issued surveillance photos of a man suspected in the Roosevelt incident, as well as a similar fire at DePaul University on April 2. Those fires happened in bathrooms, the statement said.

The DePaul incident is still under investigation, police said.

Miller, of the 1000 block of West Fullerton, is scheduled to appear in bond court on Sunday.
