Man Charged With Shooting That Left 1 Dead, 1 Wounded

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A Chicago man was charged in a shooting that left a 20-year-old man dead and another man wounded Wednesday afternoon in the Ashburn neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

Joshua Poe, 26, shot Curtis Lyons in the head about 3:10 p.m. in the 3100 block of West 84th Place, authorities said. Lyons, of the 8000 block of South Richmond Street, was pronounced dead at the scene, the Cook County medical examiner's office said.

Poe also shot a 19-year-old man in the leg, police said. That man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition had stabilized.

Poe, who was out on parole for a stolen weapon charge, shot the two during a verbal altercation, officials said.

He was charged with one count each of first-degree murder and aggravated discharge of a firearm, police said.

Poe, who lived in the same block where the shooting occurred, is scheduled to appear in bond court Friday.
