AURORA, Ill. (STMW) -- A man who allegedly shot a woman multiple times Monday in west suburban Aurora has been charged with first-degree murder.

Christopher Whetstone, 45, was charged Wednesday in connection with the death of Rachel Taylor, 22, of the 1000 block of Garfield Avenue, according to Aurora police.

Bail for Whetstone was set at $2 million Thursday.

Police say the shooting stemmed from a domestic dispute that occurred outside Whetstone's home in the 500 block of Charles Street in Aurora.

Taylor was shot multiple times and taken to Presence Mercy Medical Center where she was pronounced dead at 9:46 p.m. Monday, police said.

Whetstone was apprehended within 10 minutes without incident, police added.

His next court appearance is set for Feb. 5 at the Kane County Judicial Center.
