Man Charged With Fatal Shooting In East Garfield Park

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man has been charged with the fatal shooting of a man found dead in an East Garfield Park neighborhood alley Saturday morning.

Eugene Andrews, 37, has been charged with one count of first-degree murder in connection with the death of 42-year-old Darren Ray, according to Chicago Police. He was also wanted on a warrant.

Officers found Ray shot multiple times in an alley in the 2900 block of West Flournoy Street about 9:30 a.m. Saturday, authorities said.

Ray, of the 3000 block of West Flournoy, was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital about an hour later, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

Chicago Police did not provide a motive for the murder.

Andrews, of the 2400 block of West Lexington Street, is expected to appear in bond court Tuesday.
