Man Charged With DUI After Vehicle Crashes Into Lockport Home

(STMW) -- A man is facing a DUI charge after a vehicle was driven into a home early Sunday in southwest suburban Lockport.

Officials were dispatched to the 2000 block of East Street at 3 a.m. for a report of a vehicle into a home, Lockport police and fire officials said.

A 2001 Chevrolet Silverado had driven through the front of a two-story house, into the living room, authorities said.

The driver, 29-year-old Timothy Wagner, was removed through the passenger side of the vehicle and was taken to Silver Cross Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Frank Blaskey, battalion chief for the Lockport Township Fire Protection District.

Wagner was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, police said. His court information was not available. Utilities were shut off for the home as the Lockport Building Inspection Department investigated, Blaskey said.

The family wasn't home and may be out of town but will have to find another residence as the damage — estimated between $30,000 to $40,000 — is cleaned up, Blaskey said.
