Man Charged With DUI After Fatal Crash In DeKalb

DEKALB, Ill. (STMW) -- A man is facing charges after his car crashed early Saturday in DeKalb County, ejecting and killing a woman inside.

Tyrus M. Taylor, 19, of the 1100 block of Market Street, was charged with aggravated driving under the influence, improper lane usage and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, according to a statement from the DeKalb County Sheriff's office.

About 3:40 a.m., a DeKalb County sheriff's deputy was flagged down for a rolled-over vehicle at the corner of Plank and Moose Range roads, police said.

Taylor told police he was driving west on Plank Road when he lost control of his 1994 Honda Accord, police said. The car went off the road and rolled over before hitting a utility pole, police said.

Tiffany M. Taylor, 20, was ejected from the car and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Tiffany M. Taylor is of the same address as Tyrus Taylor, but police could not specify their relationship Saturday afternoon.

The sheriff's and coroner's offices are investigating the incident.

Taylor's court information was not available Saturday.
