Man Charged With Burglary After Homeowner Shoots Intruder
ST. CHARLES, Ill. (STMW) -- An alleged intruder shot by a homeowner after breaking into a northwest suburban home was ordered held on $100,000 bond.
Michael Huston, 26, faces one count of residential burglary and one count of possession of burglary tools, both felonies, according to the Kane County Sheriff's office.
About 11:20 a.m. Saturday, Huston broke into a house in the 38W000 block of Mallard Lake Road in unincorporated St. Charles Township and was shot by the man who owns the home, police claim.
Huston, of the 300 block of Walnut Street in St. Charles, was found by sheriff's deputies a few blocks away and taken to Delnor Community Hospital in Geneva with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
The 43-year-old homeowner was alone at home at the time, and has a valid Illinois FOID card, the statement said.
Huston is in custody at the Kane County Adult Justice Center, held on $100,000 bond, according to the Kane County Sheriff's website.
