Man Charged With 2013 Hit-And Run That Killed Elderly Man

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A man has been charged with a felony for a hit-and-run crash that left an 83-year-old man dead last year in the West Ridge neighborhood on the Far North Side.

Rasheed Mujkovic, 22, is charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in injury or death in connection with the Aug. 20, 2013, crash, according to Chicago Police.

Mujkovic was driving west on Devon Avenue when he turned south onto California Avenue at 6:22 p.m. and struck the 83-year-old in the crosswalk, police said. He then drove away.

Norman Davis Esho was taken to Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, where he was pronounced dead at 7 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Mujkovic, of the 5600 block of West Goodman, was scheduled to appear in bond court Tuesday.
