Man Charged In Shooting At Chatham Club

CHICAGO STMW) -- A man has been charged with shooting another man after he was denied entry into a Chatham club early Wednesday on the South Side.

Rudy J. Williams, 34, faces one count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and one count of unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, both felonies, according to Chicago Police.

Williams and another man got into an argument with a 29-year-old man after being denied entry into a club in the 1100 block of East 87th Street about 1:20 a.m., according to police. Williams left, but returned with a handgun and shot the 29-year-old in the wrist.

The victim was taken in good condition to Advocate Trinity Hospital.

Williams ran away after the shooting, but 4th District officers near the scene arrested him after a short foot chase, police said. The weapon was recovered at the scene.

A second person was questioned but released without being charged, police said.

Williams, of the 8700 block of South Aberdeen, was scheduled to appear in bond court Thursday.
