Man Charged In Fatal Hit-And-Run In West Englewood

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A 20-year-old man has been charged in connection with a hit-and-run collision that killed a 47-year-old man in the West Englewood neighborhood last week.

Terrell Walker was crossing Ashland Avenue at 64th Street around 9:15 p.m. Tuesday to buy a sweet tea at McDonald's, when he was struck by a car. The car never stopped. Paramedics took Walker to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he died.

The car, a 2002 Nissan Altima, was found a short time later in the 6500 block of South Laflin Street.

Early Monday, police said the driver had been identified as 20-year-old Rashaad Jackson, of the 11600 block of South Racine Avenue. Jackson was arrested Friday in the 12500 block of South Lombard, in Alsip, and has been charged with one count of reckless homicide and one count of leaving the scene of a fatal accident.

Police said Jackson was due for a bond hearing Monday afternoon.
