Man Charged In Fatal April Armed Robbery

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A Far South Side man has been charged in connection with a fatal armed robbery in Austin last April.

Shannon Williams, 22, was charged with one count of first-degree murder, three counts of armed robbery with a firearm and one count of issuance of warrant, Chicago Police announced Sunday.

Williams, of the 12200 block of South Harvard Street, was identified as the person who fatally shot Trevolus Pickett, 20, during an armed robbery in the 5200 block of West Congress Parkway 11:15 p.m. on April 18, authorities said.

Pickett, of the 8300 block of South Dorchester Avenue, was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital less than an hour later, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

Williams is scheduled to appear in bond court Monday.
