Man Charged In Death Of 8-Year-Old Olney Girl

OLNEY, Ill. (AP) — First-degree murder and predatory criminal sexual assault charges have been filed against a southern Illinois man accused in the death of an 8-year-old Olney girl.

The charges were filed Monday in Richland County Circuit Court against 53-year-old Glenn R. Ramey of Olney. A judge ordered Ramey held in lieu of $10 million bond.

Ramey was arrested Sunday in connection with the death of Sabrina Stauffenberg. The child's body was found Wednesday behind a vinegar plant on the south side of Olney, a town in southeastern Illinois of about 9,000 people.

According to prosecutors, Ramey suffocated Sabrina on or around Nov. 23. They also accused the man of raping the girl, causing "great bodily harm to the girl that was life threatening."

It wasn't immediately known if Ramey has legal representation.

Police have not said whether Ramey knew the girl, but what Richland County State's Attorney Brad Vaughn is talking about is the quick work by police from multiple agencies. WBBM's Michele Fiore reports.

Ramey's well known in the area. His family member was on the Hoarders TV Show.

A neighbor says Sabrina Stauffenberg was last seen waiting for a ride to church outside her home in Olney. Her body was discovered a short time later.

Ramey has prior convictions for DUI, battery and theft. He also had multiple orders of protection filed against him. In addition, he has an aggravated DUI charge pending.
