Man Charged After Barricading Himself In Chatham Home

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man has been charged after barricading himself in his Chatham neighborhood home for nearly three hours Tuesday evening on the South Side.

Officers surrounded a 42-year-old man's home in the 8600 block of South Ingleside Avenue about 4:40 p.m. after he was seen firing a gun outside, police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said.

He refused to come out of his home until he surrendered to police about 7:15 p.m., Greer said.

Antonio Howard Jr. faces one misdemeanor count of reckless conduct, police said. He is scheduled to appear in court July 27.
