Man Burned When Robbers Set Fire To West Side Store

(STMW) -- A man was injured after armed robbers set fire to a West Side convenience store Saturday morning.

Two masked suspects walked into the convenience store in the 3900 block of West Chicago at 10:48 a.m. and announced a robbery, according to Chicago Police. At least one of them was armed.

The robbers poured out an accelerant and lit it on fire as they were leaving the store, police said. They ran away with an unspecified amount of cash.

Three employees were inside the store at the time, police said.

One of the employees, a 49-year-old man, suffered second-degree burns to his leg and was taken to Norwegian American Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, according to police and Fire Media Affairs.

The two other employees were not injured, police said.
