Man Arrested For Trying To Sell Stolen Cubs Merchandise
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A Northwest Side man was arrested at the Wrigley Field this week, after allegedly trying to sell Cubs gear he'd just stolen from the team store.
Cook County prosecutors said 22-year-old Gusti Korotkov, of the 5900 block of North Central Park Avenue, has been charged with one felony count of retail theft.
His bond was set at $50,000 on Tuesday. If he posts bail, he must be placed on electronic monitoring.
Police said he stole more than $1,000 worth of Cubs merchandise from The Cubs Store, a team-owned store across the street from the stadium, and then tried to sell it to Cubs fans inside Wrigley.
Police said the merchandise – including three jerseys, nine caps, and a jacket – still had the tags attached when Korotkov was caught. Surveillance cameras at the store allegedly showed Korotkov taking the items.
Korotkov was scheduled to return to court on Aug. 11.
