Man Arrested After University Village Traffic Stop, Foot Chase

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A man was arrested after leading police on a foot chase following a traffic stop early Tuesday in the University Village neighborhood.

A state trooper curbed a vehicle about 2:30 a.m. on the northbound Dan Ryan Expressway near the Roosevelt Road ramp, according to Illinois State Police. A 19-year-old man got out of the vehicle and took off on foot, tossing a gun away as he ran.

He was eventually taken into custody near Maxwell and Union, state police said. Investigators also recovered the gun.

The man was taken to University of Illinois Hospital for evaluation, according to state police. Charges against him were pending Tuesday morning.
