Man, 92, Dies After Being Pulled From Near North Side Residential Pool

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A 92-year-old man died Sunday afternoon after he was found unresponsive in a Near North Side high-rise building pool.

Police and paramedics were called to the building in the 100 block of East Oak Street at 12:40 p.m. for the medical emergency, authorities said.

Bernard Hornung, who lived in the building, was pulled from the water and taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1:24 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
