Man, 55, shot at after having vehicle blocked in Auburn Gresham

Driver boxed in by 2 cars, then shot at in Auburn Gresham

CHICAGO (CBS) – A potential attempted carjacking led to shots fired at a 55-year-old man early Friday in Auburn Gresham.

Police said the man was driving near 85th and Loomis around 3:30 a.m., when two other vehicles approached from the front and rear, boxing him in.

The man tried to back up to get away, but the car behind him rear-ended him. While police haven't called the incident a carjacking attempt, sources said that's what the victim believed was happening, and CBS 2 has reported on similar tactics used in carjackings

After he was rear ended, the victim said someone got out of the car behind him and started shooting at him before running away.

The man was not shot, but he was taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital, where he was treated and released.

No one was in custody Friday morning.

Area Two detectives were investigating.
