Lottery Winner Pays For Homeless Man's Shelter

(CBS) -- Sophia Andrade won $200 on a scratch ticket, and instead of treating herself, she decided to use the money to buy a homeless man a hotel room for three nights.

Andrade had spotted Glenn Williams panhandling on the side of the road in Wareham, Mass., when she pulled up to a stop sign. With temperatures dipping below zero across the state over the weekend, she didn't want him to be left out in the cold.

"I knew that God had put him in my path for a reason," she said. "I knew instantly that the money wasn't mine, it was given to me to help someone else."

She's hoping her act of generosity will inspire others.

"I want my children to know about compassion. Whether someone has a million dollars or one dollar, you should treat everybody the same," she said. "Everybody deserves respect."
