He is accused of stabbing Anat Kimchi to death on Wacker Drive near Van Buren Street. The 31-year-old University of Maryland student was visiting Chicago.

In bond court Saturday afternoon, a Cook County Assistant State's attorney said Robinson was walking west on Van Buren Street when he stabbed Kimchi, who was walking south on Upper Wacker Drive. He stabbed her twice, and one witness standing in the park saw the stabbing, prosecutors said.

Someone said it looked like Robinson was trying to rob victim initially, prosecutors said.

Robinson fled and was captured on pod surveillance video removing shirt he wore during attack and leaving it near the nearby homeless encampment, prosecutors said. The shirt was recovered and sent for DNA analysis, prosecutors said.

Robinson was also caught on video making a throwing motion toward the South Branch of the Chicago River, prosecutors said.

Victim transported to Northwestern and pronounced deceased

Robinson was arrested on Thursday. His tent is located in the homeless encampment about 200 feet from murder, prosecutors said.

A search warrant issued and turned up two knives and a black sock full of rocks, prosecutors said.

Robinson was identified in a lineup.

Robinson is also accused in an earlier robbery on Congress Parkway, and in another incident on June 10 at 500 S. Franklin St. where a victim was struck by an unknown object.

Robinson was ordered held without bail. He is due back in court for a preliminary hearing on Monday in Violence Court (Br. 66).
