Loop Shooting Victim's Condition Improving
CHICAGO (CBS) -- The condition of a Loop CEO who was shot by a disgruntled colleague two weeks ago has been upgraded as he continues making progress at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
WBBM Newsradio's Steve Miller reports Steven LaVoie was upgraded from critical to serious condition on Tuesday.
LaVoie, 54, was shot in the head on July 31, in the LaSalle Street offices of ArrowStream – the technology company he founded in 2000. Police said ArrowStream chief technology officer Tony DeFrances, who recently had been demoted, shot LaVoie and then killed himself, after setting up a meeting with LaVoie.
On Sunday, on the Caring Bridge website, LaVoie's wife Jody posted a message, saying LaVoie "continues to breathe on his own."
She also posted a photo of her husband near the finish line in a 15K race.
"Like a long race," she wrote, "his recovery will take time, patience and some hardship along the way."
