Long Security Lines Reported At Midway On Busiest Air Travel Day Of The Year

CHICAGO (CBS) -- The busiest air travel day of the year is living up to its reputation, reports WBBM's Nancy Harty.

During the morning rush at Midway Airport, security lines snaked along a corridor past the parking garage and almost to the Orange Line, some walking several minutes just to get to the end of that line.

A number of people say they have never seen lines this long and anyone who didn't give themselves the full two hours before their flight risked having an extended stay. The lines did keep moving, with plenty of airline staff and police helping people find their way.

The Chicago Department of Aviation estimates that 300,000 people will pass through O'Hare and Midway by the end of the day.
