1 dead in Logan Square fire

A 75-year-old man died Friday afternoon in a fire at a home in the Logan Square neighborhood.

The fire started shortly after 3 p.m. in the 3000 block of West George Street. Police said officers found a 75-year-old man unresponsive in a basement apartment, with burns to his body. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Chicago Police Department arson detectives were seen at the building after the fire was extinguished. Area 5 detectives were conducting a death investigation.
