Lockport Construction Worker Dies After Chicago Accident

(STMW) -- A southwest suburban construction worker died after a wall of concrete fell on him Friday afternoon on the Near North Side.

Emergency crews responded to the 1400 block of North Ogden Avenue at 12:25 p.m., where a concrete wall at a construction site had fallen on top of 46-year-old David Varga, according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

Varga, of the 14600 block of 135th Avenue in Lockport, was taken in critical condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he died at 3:56 p.m., authorities said.

An autopsy is scheduled for Saturday.
