Lockdown Lifted At Loyola Medical Center After Suspicious Package Checked

CHICAGO (CBS) -- The Loyola University Medical Center campus in Maywood was briefly locked down Tuesday morning, after a suspicious package was found in a parking garage.

Loyoola University Chicago Campus Police Chief Thomas Murray sent an alert to hospital staff informing anyone on campus to shelter in place while police and firefighters check the package, which was found on a parking deck at the hospital campus Tuesday morning shortly before 9 a.m.

No one was allowed onto the medical center campus and all entrances were blocked while the package was checked, but no buildings were evacuated.

A Cook County SHeriff's Department bomb squad determined the package was not a threat, and the lockdown was lifted around 11 a.m. after a complete search of the campus.
