Live Grenade Found At South Suburban Trash Yard

EAST HAZEL CREST, Ill. (CBS) -- The Cook County bomb squad was working to dispose of a live grenade that was found at a waste transfer station in the far south suburbs on Friday.

The East Hazel Crest police and fire officials said a live hand grenade was found around 1:30 p.m. at the Homewood Disposal waste transfer station at 175th and Ashland.

The Cook County bomb squad was called in to investigate and safely dispose of the device.
