Lemont Eagerly Awaiting Hawks Goalie Scott Darling To Bring Stanley Cup Home

(CBS) -- Never before has the Stanley Cup been to southwest suburban Lemont, but that's expected to change as the Cup goes on its world tour with the Blackhawks this summer.

The big questions are when and how.

Mayor Brian Reaves says the Cup is expected to make its appearance when backup goalie and Lemont native Scott Darling has possession of the Cup. Just when that will occur isn't set yet, although Reaves expects to have an announcement by Sunday night.

He considers it of such importance that he will put the information out through the village's Nixle alert system as well as by press release.

Darling grew up a rabid Hawks fan and is the first Chicago area native to have his name engraved on the Cup as a member of the Blackhawks. He has been back once since the Stanley Cup Final ended but visited with his girlfriend, not the Cup. He stopped at Gelsosomo's Pizzaria, which had an online campaign highlighting Darling.
