Blackhawks' Crawford Is Being Probed For Allegedly Squirting Fan With Water
(CBS) After telling CBS 2 earlier Wednesday that Blackhawks goalie Corey Crawford wasn't being investigated for an alleged incident with a fan in Game 4 of the Western Conference Final against the Kings, the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed late Wednesday afternoon to CBS 2 that a battery report had been filed by a fan claiming that Crawford squirted water on him.
The LAPD is probing Crawford, though LAPD commander Andy Smith told the Chicago Tribune that, "It's a pretty low priority when it comes to investigation by this department,"
TMZ.com first published the story that Crawford was under investigation for allegedly spraying 27-year-old Clark Wong with his water bottle in the third period of Monday's game, thus causing an irritation to Wong's eyes. Wong declined comment to the Tribune, only saying he has received death threats.
Crawford didn't comment on the issue at Wednesday's morning skate, and Chicago coach Joel Quenneville said, "I'm not worried about it."
Los Angeles leads the series 3-1 entering tonight's Game 5 at the United Center.
