Brush Fire Rages In South Barrington After Jumping From Mulch Pile At Landscaping Business

SOUTH BARRINGTON, Ill. (CBS) -- Firefighters from several northwest suburban jurisdictions spent Monday afternoon and night battling a stubborn brush fire.

Flames were raging Monday night near Penny and Sutton roads in South Barrington. Fire officials brought in water tankers to help put out the flames.

We are told this started from a giant mulch pile at a landscaping company near Penny Road and Route 59 earlier in the day.

The flames then jumped across the railroad tracks, also engulfing South Barrington and nearby areas in smoke.

The strong winds Monday night did not help.
