A 26-year-old man was taken to AMITA Health St. Joseph Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:32 a.m.

He was identified as William Garcia-Ruiz, 26, of the Edgewater neighborhood, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

The other person, a 35-year-old man, refused medical attention.

This water rescue was just two blocks away from the Lincoln Park South Lagoon, where a man's body was pulled from the water a day after he jumped in after his dog Saturday night.

The dog got out of the water successfully, but the man never reemerged to the surface, authorities said.
