Lake Michigan Swim Ban In Effect After Storms

(CBS) -- A swim ban was put in place at Chicago's beaches Sunday after heavy rains.

Due to the storms on Saturday, the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District opened the lock at Wilmette and the Chicago River downtown, according to a statement from the Chicago Park District.

The swim ban will remain in place until water testing shows low levels of bacteria, according to the statement.

While swimming is banned, the beaches remain open for use.
