Lake In Hills Village President Charged With Battery

(CBS) -- The village president of northwest suburban Lake in the Hills has been charged with domestic battery.

WBBM's Steve Miller reports, 64-year-old Paul Mulcahy, Lake in the Hills Village President, is facing criminal misdemeanor charges in McHenry County.

He is accused of domestic battery with bodily harm.

Court records show that the incident happened Sunday.

And the Chicago Tribune is reporting that Mulcahy grabbed a woman by her feet and dragged her down a flight of carpeted stairs - causing scrapes and carpet burns.

His bio on the Lake in the Hills website says Mulcahy "has had a long history of service to the Lake in the Hills community."

He is free on $200 bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for Monday.

WBBM has asked Mulcahy and his attorney for comment.
