Lake County Health Officials Sending Out Questionnaires To Evaluate Health Of Residents

(CBS) -- Lake County health officials are reaching out to thousands of households in the northern suburbs in order to piece together a profile of the community's health, reports WBBM's Regine Schlesinger.

Questionnaires are going out this week to 5,000 randomly-chosen families as Lake County does its first health survey. Coordinator Seth Kidder says the survey is key to the department's planning.

"The results of this will help drive our assessment and planning process," Kidder says. "We use the information and data here to figure out what health priorities there are in the community over the next three-to-five years."

He's offering assurances the questionnaires will be completely anonymous so no one's privacy will be compromised.

"Frankly, we're not interested in the individual's health," Kidder says. "We look at population health amongst entire communities."

Residents will have until the end of October to respond to the survey and findings should be available sometime early next year.
