Kyle Schwarber Is Back In Cubs' Starting Lineup

(CBS) After not starting the past six games with a right rib cage strain, Cubs rookie catcher/outfielder Kyle Schwarber is returning to Chicago's lineup Wednesday.

Schwarber is hitting second and playing left field as the Cubs face Cardinals right-hander Carlos Martinez. He suffered the injury last Wednesday in the batting cage before a game against the Reds. Schwarber then missed five games before pinch-hitting Tuesday night in a win at St. Louis.

The Cubs won't use Schwarber at catcher when he returns, so as to minimize the risk of doing further damage to his ribs, Bruce Levine has reported.

Schwarber is hitting .268 with 13 homers, 38 RBIs and a .912 OPS in 49 games.
