Police Say Kidnapping Report Is Unfounded

CHICAGO (CBS)--Police Tuesday canceled a community alert issued for a suspect wanted for kidnapping an 11-year-old girl Monday afternoon.

The girl reported being picked up by a man driving a van in the 3600 block of West 55th Street in the West Elsdon neighborhood. She told police she escaped after being driven around for an hour.

Police now say the claim is unfounded and have canceled the search for the alleged suspect.
