Kane County Highway Worker Struck And Killed By Pickup

CHICAGO (CBS) -- While filling potholes Thursday, a Kane County highway worker was struck and killed by a pickup truck.

Steven Chidester, 44, has worked for the Kane County Department of Transportation for five years, according to the the Kane County Sheriff's Office.

Thursday morning, he was part of a two-person crew filling potholes on northbound Harter Road, when the driver of a 1999 Ford F-250 failed to slow down and hit Chidester and the crew's truck.

Chidester was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the pickup has not been charged.
