July Was All Wet Across Illinois

CHICAGO (CBS) -- If you thought last month was particularly soggy, you were right: It was the third-wettest July on record in Illinois.

On average, the state got 7.12 inches of rain, according to the state's Climatologist Office. The largest rainfall for the month was in Carbondale, which totaled a whopping 13.34 inches.

Most of Chicago area was wetter than normal for the month, with totals ranging from 5 to 10 inches on average. Downers Grove ranked No. 2 in the state with 12.95 inches.

One relative dry patch: Northern Lake County recorded slightly below average totals for the month.

The statewide average temperature for July was 75.9 degrees, 0.5 degrees above normal.
