Listen: Jon Heyman On Robin Ventura's Job Status

(CBS) As the White Sox's free fall continues, manager Robin Ventura's job status continues to be under the microscope with the team falling below .500 and showing little fire in its play.

So how hot is Ventura's seat? Pretty hot, according to MLB Network insider Jon Heyman.

"We're at the point right now where it's definitely something that's on the table," Heyman said in an interview on the Mully and Hanley Show. "Things have not gone well. To be 23-10 and now to be under .500, it's really, really bad, really almost unfathomable to have sunk this quickly. Yeah, they have tried things. Obviously, they just started trying things a week ago (again). Maybe they'll give it a little more time than this Thursday, but I think it's fair to say -- and I've been reluctant to say it because I know how loyal Jerry Reinsdorf is -- but I do think that Robin's job is an issue at this point. I have heard that there are people in the organization who are starting to think about it at this point, at least. I don't think it's his fault, I don't think that they think it's his fault, but we're not seeing any spark from this team. They had a great first year under Robin. It's been a few years since then, and I think they need to get going to save his job at this point."
