Joliet Man Killed In I-80 Crash

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A 66-year-old man was killed in a five-vehicle crash on Interstate 80 in Joliet late Sunday morning.

About 11:25 a.m., Michael B. McCoy was behind the wheel of a Chevrolet pickup truck that crossed from the westbound lanes of the highway into oncoming traffic near the Chicago Street exit, according to Illinois State Police and the Will County coroner's office.

The truck hit an RV and four other vehicles, and McCoy, a Joliet resident, was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

Two people from one of the other vehicles were taken to Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox and were released Sunday afternoon, state police said.

The driver of the pickup was at fault and no citations will be issued, police said.
