Johnny Oduya Will Miss A Couple Weeks

(CBS) Blackhawks defenseman Johnny Oduya will miss a couple weeks with an upper-body injury, coach Joel Quenneville told reporters at Monday's practice.

Oduya suffered the injury in the first period of Chicago's 6-2 loss to Boston on Sunday at the United Center. This news comes as a blow to a defense that has been struggling recently, as Oduya was one of the four defensemen who Quenneville relies heavily on.

Oduya has two goals and three assists while posting a minus-9 mark this season. On a more optimistic note, the Blackhawks are anticipating the return of rookie defenseman Trevor van Riemsdyk soon. He suffered a leg injury in November but has returned to practice.

The Blackhawks play three games this week, then another three next week, so Oduya figures to miss at least a half-dozen contests.
