Jimmy Butler Out Against Heat, Derrick Rose Questionable

(CBS) Bulls wing Jimmy Butler has been ruled out of Friday night's game against the Heat as he continues to deal with a left knee injury, while point guard Derrick Rose is questionable with a left adductor strain.

Butler has missed 13 of the past 15 games because of his knee injury. On Thursday, he got a second opinion from acclaimed Dr. James Andrews, who after an evaluation in Florida confirmed there was no structural damage. Butler resumed workout activity Thursday night as he missed Chicago's loss at San Antonio, but he's not ready to play yet.

Butler suffered a left knee strain when he landed awkwardly during a Feb. 5 game at Denver, and he missed the next 11 games. He returned last Saturday and scored 24 points in a win against Houston but then came down with more swelling in the following days, prompting the visit to Andrews.

Rose scored 21 points while playing 36 minutes in Thursday's loss to the Spurs. He's missed 10 games this year, and the Bulls have often taken a cautious approach when deciding whether to play him when he's bothered by soreness.
