Jackson Chance Foundation Hold Annual Brunch Honoring Health Care Providers At Lurie Children's Hospital NICU

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A Chicago mom is giving back after losing her infant son a few years ago.

Through a foundation in her son's name, she's giving other mom's with kids in the neonatal intensive care unit a special Mother's day weekend.

Carrie Meghie and her husband started the Jackson Chance Foundation in honor of their son who died when he was 10 months old.

"He spent pretty much his entire life in the neonatal intensive care unit," she said.

The foundation put on its third annual brunch in downtown Chicago to celebrate health care providers who work in the NICU at Lurie Children's Hospital and Northwestern's Prentice Women's hospital.

Meghie says mothers with children in the NICU were also treated to an overnight stay at the Hard Rock Hotel.

It was a chance to let them get pampered and yet still be close enough to their babies.

In addition to the event, the Jackson Chance Foundation helps families by providing transportation to Lurie Children's to help cut down on the cost of parking.
