(CBS) -- A staple in the Bridgeport neighborhood has lost its icon. Jack Schaller, owner of Schaller's Pump, has died.

The bar and restaurant owner happily took over the family business in 1966. Schaller's Pump – which calls itself the oldest licensed liquor establishment in the city – dates to 1881.

Schaller, 92, served in the Army in World War II and was a lifelong White Sox fan.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Thomas McInerney's Sons Funeral Home, 4635 South Wallace St. with visitation and funeral mass later this week.
