It's A Nice Day For A McDonald's Wedding

By John Dodge

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Couples are loving it at McDonald's in Hong Kong.

The restaurants there are offering a handful of wedding packages that by U.S. standards are incredibly cheap.

According the company's website, the most expensive runs around $1,300 and it includes around $400 in McDonald's food, a McDonaldland character gift for 50 guests, venue rental for two hours and wedding gifts such as a crystal replica of a McDonald's restaurant.

The least expensive option ($370) offers gifts for 20 guests and about $140 in food.

Couples don't get the crystal wedding gift, but, rather, a pair of "sweetly cups."

Even if a couple from Chicago decided to fly to Hong Kong to tie the knot, the wedding would still be pretty cheap.

A round-trip flight for two would coast them about $4,000.

However, getting your guests there would be another matter.

The packages do include "basic audio equipment," so perhaps the event could be beamed back via Skype.

The restaurant also offers a variety of decorations for the reception, including a expertly designed stack of double apple pies.

"Our Wedding Party packages have just everything you need, including unique venue decoration, customized games and special gifts for bride and groom and your guests," the company's website says. "Everything will be taken care of by McDonald's. All you need to do is to be there and enjoy the moment of your lifetime."

The closest thing to a McDonald's wedding in the United States would probably be at the Hyatt Lodge, simply because it is located on the McDonald's headquarters campus in Oak Brook.
