Iowa Man Charged In Road Rage Attack

CHICAGO (CBS) -- An Iowa man has been charged with stabbing another man during a road-rage incident in northwest suburban Volo on Wednesday afternoon.

Deputies from the Lake County sheriff's office were called about 3:50 p.m. near the intersection of Route 12 and Volo Village Road, where they found a man with a stab wound to his leg near the femoral artery, according to a statement from the sheriff's office.

A deputy applied a tourniquet to the leg to control the bleeding until paramedics arrived and took the man to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, police said. His condition was not immediately known.

A description of the suspect's vehicle was broadcast statewide, and 45-year-old Scott Allen Schultz was arrested about midnight by the Whiteside County sheriff's office in Morrison, "just shy of the Iowa border," police said.

Schultz, of the 100 block of Carter Street in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery causing great bodily harm and aggravated battery on a public roadway, police said.

His bond was set at $25,000, and his next court date is scheduled for Oct. 6, according to the sheriff's office.
