Intruder Wakes Girl, 5, In Valparaiso Home

VALPARAISO, Ind. (STMW) -- Valparaiso police are investigating the entry of a residence in northwest Indiana early Friday morning, after a male subject woke up a sleeping 5-year-old girl.

Police said they were called to the home at 12:40 a.m. in the 300 block of Center Street in Valparaiso, Ind., and learned a male subject had removed a window screen and opened a window. The child awoke, saw the man standing near her and screamed to her parents, the Post-Tribune is reporting.

She then rant to her parents' bedroom and informed them that someone was inside her room. When the parents entered the bedroom, the man was no longer there.

Police located signs that someone had entered the bedroom. Police and a K-9 searched the area without results. The only description was that the subject was male.
