UPDATED: 2:29 p.m.

(CBS) -- An inmate who escaped after having a baby at a South Bend hospital is back in police custody, according to the La Porte County Sheriff's Office.

Police say 29-year-old Natasha Peters was arrested without incident by Michigan City Police Sunday around 1 p.m. near the intersection of 8th and Pine streets.

Peters gave birth to the child at a South Bend hospital Wednesday. She was supposed to go back to jail Sunday but at some point she left the hospital, leaving her baby behind.

La Porte County Sheriff's detectives are investigating whether or not anyone assisted Peters while she was on the run.

Peters was arrested in June. She's accused of armed robbery. Police say she now faces additional charges.
